I often get first time patients that are very nervous about their treatment hurting them. They are then extremely surprised that they leave our clinic having had little or no discomfort during their appointment.
As an experienced Chelmsford chiropractor, in a very busy clinic, I frequently have patients telling me that they had been extremely nervous about whether the treatment would hurt and are presently surprised that their treatment has been so gentle and pain free.
If you are seeking chiropractic treatment and are asking yourself the question – “will it hurt?” then here is some information that may help lay your concerns to rest.
Chiropractic treatment involves safe, often gentle, specific spinal manipulation to free joints in the spine and other related areas.
Mostly patients experience little or no discomfort. However, some people can experience temporary symptoms such as pain or soreness around the areas being treated.
If you are being treated in an area that is already inflamed then symptoms may feel slightly worse after treatment. Don’t panic as this shouldn’t last long.
When visiting Chelmsford Chiropractor Clinic you will receive a full initial examination and consultation before any treatment begins. If you have any concerns regarding my treatment I always encourage you to discuss them with me.
You may hear an audible ‘pop’ sound during your treatment. This will be nothing to worry about and may even bring relief to your symptoms. The ‘pop’ is just the sound of bubbles of gas popping in the fluid of the joint as the pressure is released.
As well as manipulation, your treatment may include other techniques that I use as an experienced chiropractor. This could be ice or heat treatment and may include advice about posture and your lifestyle.
Please don’t worry, if I believe that chiropractic care is not suitable for you then I will refer you to the appropriate medical professional, be it your GP or relevant specialist.
