What is the main cause of back pain? A Chelmsford Chiropractor explains and shares advice.

It has been found that most people at some point in their lives will suffer from back pain. This then has a major impact on their lives, and it can be considerable. Undertaking every day tasks such as driving, sitting at a desk, sleeping and picking up children can become extremely painful and arduous.

Poor posture is one of the major causes of back pain in the UK. Our lifestyles often contribute to developing poor posture and back pain. If you find that you are:

  • sitting for hours at a desk or at your computer
  • slouched in front of the TV for several hours
  • sleeping in a bed that is too hard or soft
  • hunching your back and shoulders

your posture is probably suffering and so is your back.

To treat back pain effectively you need to find its cause, which a chiropractor is ideally placed to do. An experienced chiropractor will want to understand your daily activities to be able to give you advice and the best treatment for your condition.  Here at Chelmsford Chiropractor Clinic we can advise you to make postural changes to help improve your posture.

The BCA (British Chiropractic Association) has developed a 3 minute programme called Straighten Up UK to help strengthen your spine, increase muscle tone and improve your posture.

This 3 minute programme is designed to counteract the sedentary things we do in our everyday lives and is suitable from the very old to the very young.

The programme is also aimed to be simple, quick and easy to do every day – just like brushing your teeth.

Watch this video for the 3 minute Straighten Up UK programme. Before starting on the programme it is advisable to ask your chiropractor, GP or health professional about the suitability of these exercises for your specific needs.
